Molly worked as a maid in a large house in the New Forrest? I have a letter of referance from Plumber Manor, Stirminster Newton, Dorset dated 2/6/41 saying that Mollie had served as a housemaid and parlourmaid for the last 7 years.
In 1944 she attended the National Rally for Women at County Hall, Westminster Bridge,London where the Queen spoke. She was send by the local (Gosport) cival defence of which she was a member and A.R.P. Warden at that time. Around this time she was also a "postie" delivering mail to some "secure armed forces bases"
In 1946/47 she looked after children at the Vegetarian Home for Children in Liverpool.
A 1947-48 ration book in my possesion has the address of White Lodge,East Drive, Bracklesham Bay, Chichister. Also Worked in a grocery store in West Meon? Her ID card bears the address Sunnyside, East Meon, Petersfield, Hants. Circa 1949-50
In later years she worked for Bill Doidge (see Marion Rawls) as a Milk Delivery Lady, getting up at dawn to load heavy crates of milk bottles into a van and delivering them door to door. She did this from aprox 1955 untill retirement. She visited her son in Canada just before her death.Above information entered by son Don
